The Utica College Pioneers are still a top three team in the latest USCHO Division III national poll.
The latest USCHO Division III men’s college hockey poll has been released, and the Utica College Pioneers are still in a familiar place, as they are ranked third in the nation.
The Pioneers have an overall record of 9-2-0 and are a perfect 7-0-0 within the UCHC, which puts them in first place in the conference. In this new poll, there was a voter who really liked what Utica College has done as they received one first-place vote. The top five in this poll is as follows:
- #1: Adrian College – fourteen first place votes
- #2: Geneseo – five first place votes
- #3: Utica College – one first place vote
- #4: Augsburg
- #5: Hobart
Adrian rose past Geneseo to take the number one spot after Geneseo lost to Elmira on Saturday night by a score of 4-3. Augsburg and Hobart also flip-flopped the number four and five spots. Utica College’s last game was on December 4th, when they defeated King’s College by a score of 8-0 in the annual New York Sash Teddy Bear Toss game.
The Pioneers, like most programs, are off for approximately one month for the holiday break. They return to action on January 8th, when they play the thirteenth ranked Curry College Colonels, and the following day they take on local rival the Oswego State Lakers. Both games will be played at home in the friendly confines of the Adirondack Bank Center.
Local college hockey updates
The Colgate Raiders enter their holiday break with an overall record of 8-10-0 and a 3-5-0-0 mark in the ECAC – which puts them in eighth place in the conference. They return to action on January 7th and 8th, when they travel to Northern Michigan to take on the Wildcats.
Atlantic Hockey Association
It was recently announced the Atlantic Hockey Association would hold their conference championship at the Adirondack Bank Center in March of 2022 (Atlantic Hockey Association Championship coming to Utica). Here are the current standings of the AHA:
- 1.) Bentley: 23 points
- 2.) Canisius: 20 points
- 3.) Army: 19 points
- 4.) RIT: 17 points
- 5.) Sacred Heart: 16 points
- 6.) Mercyhurst: 16 points
- 7.) American International College: 14 points
- 8.) Niagara: 13 points
- 9.) Air Force: 13 points
- 10.) Holy Cross: 9 points
The Hamilton Continentals are off to a 4-2-0 overall start so far. Included in that record is a 3-1-0 mark in the NESCAC, which puts them in third place in the conference. They next play on New Year’s Day, when they travel to Northfield, Vermont for their first game in the Northfield Bank Tournament against the eighth-ranked Norwich Cadets.
The Morrisville Mustangs currently sport a 4-8-1 overall record. They have a SUNYAC record of 1-7-0 which lands them in eighth place in the conference. The Mustangs return from their holiday break on January 5th, when they take on the Arcadia Knights at home in the Morrisville Iceplex.
